Breakfast was a business-like affair, unlike our normal boisterous ones.
After breakfast, Robert oiled most of our chains, his last act of care-taking of the Fellowship. Then he and Terri saw us off, waving good-bye as we cycled slowly away.
We had to cycle along busy Hwy 5 for almost 25km, but we were rewarded by a few really quiet rural roads where there was almost no traffic. The scenery underwent a marked change now that we were inland: the terrain was flatter and there were hankerchief fields separated by low hedges, reminding one strongly of England's pastures. But everything green and lush even though it was almost summer's end: small wonder that Peter Jackson chose this area to recreate the Shire of the Lord of the Rings.
Martel, although a huge fan of that trilogy, will have to forgo the Hobbiton tour today: he and Carole are the chefs tonight.
Although there were a few hills, the route was mostly downhill. So we arrived at the Opal Springs Holiday park before 1:30. We were in 6-bed cabins and used the communal showers and toilets.
Then it was swimming in the pool and general relaxation.
Carole and Martel and they whipped up a chicken-and-shrimp vegetable stir-fry served over rice with a fruit salad and cookies for dessert.
